One of the most important steps to completing your portrait experience is DOWNLOADING your online digital gallery. Downloading your gallery will give you the peace of mind having the ability to access your memories in the comfort of your own home without having to get online; trying to remember passwords; and the fuss of having to contact your photographer in getting any of that information. So I wanted to share this simple guideline on how to go about DOWNLOADING your online digital gallery to either your Desktop Computer (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) and/or your Mobile Device.
If this downloading has been allowed by the photographer, follow the steps below to download the images.
Go to the gallery in your photographer's site.
Press the Select Photos button.
A Download button should appear click on it to download images.
Choose to Download entire gallery or Select photos to download
*If the download option is not displayed, please contact the photographer IMMEDIATELY to let her know that you would like to download their images.
If this downloading has been allowed by the photographer, follow the steps below to download the images from the photographer's mobile site.
Go to the gallery in your photographer's site using a mobile device.
Tap on the image that you would like to download. This part is important as it is not possible to download from the screen where there are multiple images displayed at once.
Scroll up and tap the caret in the top right corner.
Tap the Download link in the menu that appears.
*If the download option is not displayed, please contact the photographer IMMEDIATELY to let them know that you would like to download their images.
Switch to Desktop View to Download Multiple Images
Depending on the mobile device used to view the gallery, it may be possible to download all of the images from the gallery at once. That is done by switching to the Desktop version of the site by clicking Desktop at the bottom of the mobile site. Once viewing the Desktop site, follow the steps above "To DOWNLOAD your online High Resolution digital gallery onto your Desktop Computer" to download images.
*For iOS (iPhone and iPad) users, an app that allows for uncompressing zip files must be installed in the device first before being able to download multiple images at once.
When downloading multiple images at once, the images will be bundled altogether into one zip file. Once downloaded, the zip file will need to be decompressed or unzipped before the images can be viewed or shared.
Zip files general contain files that have been compressed and 'zipped' to make downloading them faster and easier.
When downloading multiple files or photographs from Zenfolio we compress the files into a zip file for this reason.
Before attempting to open the zip file, make sure that the entire file has been downloaded. If the file has not yet been fully downloaded, you will see error an error and you will be prevented from opening the zip file.
These errors include:
The file is corrupted
The file has been moved
The file cannot be opened
Also if the downloaded file has a file extension of .cpgz, this also means that the file was not completely downloaded.
If you see any of above errors or the file ends in .cpgz, check your browser's download manager to make sure that the file has been completely downloaded. You may also need to restart the download over again. If restarted, make sure to wait until the file has been completely downloaded before attempting to open the zip file.
If the issue persists, try downloading the file using a different web browser. Using a different web browser usually resolves most issues.
On a Mac:
Find the downloaded file and double-click on the zip file.
A new folder with the same name will be created with all of the contents inside it.
On a PC:
Drag the .zip attachment to the desktop. Once the file is on the desktop, you can double- or right-click to open it.
Double-click the zipped file to see its contents. When prompted, drag the files out of the window to the desired location or click Extract All. When you click Extract All, the files are unzipped in the same location as the original file unless you specify a different one in the Select a Destination window.
Right-click the zipped file and select Extract All. By default, files are extracted to the location as the original zipped file. Use the Select a Destination window to save the files somewhere else.
